CHILDREN
Source: Property Management for Dummies
Robert Griswold
Be careful not
to discourage applicants with policies and guidelines for
the conduct of children unless they are safety-related.
For example: do not institute a
policy against children riding bicycles on the property.
Instead you can have a policy that says that no one is
allowed to ride bicycles on the property. This way, the
policy does not discriminate against children; it is
uniformly applied to all. Make sure all of your
policies are age-neutral except for health and safety
issues. For example: some states have specific laws
that allow you to have a policy that states that, in order
to use the swimming pool, children under 14 must be
accompanied by an adult.
